It's not a secret that GM Ben Teague has been frustrated over the direction the offseason has taken. Given the absence of any pitchers arriving before Spring Training, he's not wrong. However, that's not to say the offseason has been a total bust. CF Tyler Pavey finally completed his rehab and so returns to the active roster. The Hammers plucked RF Carlos Comancho of the FA market. The 31-year-old will compete with Rule 5 newcomer SS Tony Perez as key pieces off the bench whereas each can play 4 positions when called upon.
As far as outgoing players, it's hard to complain much. Middle infielder Richard Drouin jumped to the El Paso Chilis via FA and the Hammers saw Rule 5 casualties Mutemi and Maundu as role players likely to return at Spring Training looms. Finally, and sadly, Jerusalem had to let Menne pass into the FA market. Meme was a crucial to the Hammers' offense but only when he was health allowed him to be.
We should expect more news from Jerusalem's Front Office as the offseason continues.
