Jerusalem GM Ben Teague got a mixed bag of news from arbitrators today as 4 players were under consideration:
CF Domingo Torres
53 G .210/.263/.228 0 HR 14 RBI
The committee decided in favor of Torres' demand of $934k over the club's offer of $680k. Torres is a powerful vacuum machine in CF. Unfortunately, he also sucks at the plate. To find a role for Torres beyond a defensive sub will be difficult...and defensive subs have no business making over the minimum.
P Wally Bowden
(AAA) 28 G 4.07 ERA 1.27 WHIP +3.5 WAR
Bowden is a player that the team is really counting on to improve due to the dearth of RHP in the starting rotation. The committee also went with the player on this one granting him $970k when the club had offered $760k. Perhaps things will finally click in 2048.
C Sen Mori
43 G .297/.364/.469 6 HR 24 RBI
Considering prospect Bailey Nunn is honing is craft right behind Sen Mori, the team has to be excited that the arbitration committee settled in their favor with an offer of $640k instead of Mori's $1.25k request. But make no mistake, Mori will be a key piece backing All-Star catcher Baden Dutton.
P Oliver Perez
33 G 2.25 ERA 1.30 WHIP +1.1 WAR
Perez spent the entirety of the 2047 season in AAA bullpen. But, he is talented enough to warrant a place in the Hammers' bullpen. Thus, the team offered Perez a one-year contract of $2.1M. The committee instead went with Perez' request of $2.75M. Perhaps this will force Jerusalem to re-examine Perez role.
