2042.3: Have the Hammers Been Foresaken

Oh citizens of Jerusalem, I suggest you go to your favorite place to worship and pray as you like for the Hammers, because the team is going to need all the help it can get right now. Despite early optimisim, the team is currently 3 games behind Athens in the playoff hunt. Yes, Athens has had a fantastic year so far, and it is not exactly a surprise as a recent league feature suggested. But that shouldn't explain why the Hammers are down in the same spot as last year, needing a hell of a rally to even think about the playoffs. Quite frankly, it's possible that the league is getting closer to Jerusalem and maybe the team is nearing the end of the championship window as the first great UMEBA dynasty. Or is it maybe something else?

The real reason for the dire straights has been the pitching. When you have one decent starter who isn't getting lit up like a college frat party on a Saturday night, you might have a problem. Jose Villareal has given the team a chance to win each start, but he cannot pitch every day. This feature has not called out players before, but the one starter who has been a major disappointment is Shuan-Yan Bu I know that most 5th starters are going to be iffy at times, and can be either wily pitchers hanging on or young arms on the way up, but Bu has been making it hard on the offense by requiring massive amounts of run support to even have a chance. A 10.00 ERA is just not getting it done.

The offense has been doing great, however. They have been scoring over 6 runs a game, giving the pitching staff a chance in most games no matter how much the pitchers want to turn a game of baseball into a home run derby. DH David Hall has been a particular bright spot as in years past. The man just enjoys raking, and has been a key in many a championship team in his time with the team. But he can't do it alone. The plan for Hammers management is to try and find some pitching that can at least give us a chance.
