2041.8: In Regeneratione

Post by lordtoffee » Fri Feb 28, 2020 11:44 pm

The title of this Team News means rebirth, and for the Hebrew Hammers they have risen from the dead to clinch the Wild Card and defend their title in the UMEBA playoffs. A lot of pressure was placed on the shoulders of rookie GM Ben Heuring after a dismal start to the season, and he never lost sight of what needed to happen. It is still an open question if the Hammers used up all the pixie dust to get into the playoffs, and if the advantage goes to the Impalers. That being said, the Impalers did clinch early, and sometimes that can snap your momentum, especially if you are facing a hot team like the Hammers are. The Impalers are going to be a tough out, especially since they are going to have home field in the final UMEBA playoff season before the coming expansion next year. Heuring discussed expansion, and noted that

The big news out of the Hammers is that they are going to get a key piece of their rotation back. Jose Villarreal, the young phenom starter is back after missing a few weeks because of injury. He is a talented young Cuban pitcher who Heuring holds in high confidence. In fact, Jose will get the ball in Game 1 on the road. Heuring said that his goal with Jose was to make sure that he could pitch well, and hopefully steal one game in Romania. The other star that Heuring is counting on is Leonardo Martinez. Martinez was a player that got a look in the BBA, but ended up going to the UMEBA. He has blossomed into a star player for the Hammers, and is a prime candidate for a BBA team to take a look at. In the Hammer stretch drive, Martinez has provided numerous big hits, and mashed 43 home runs. He reminds Heuring a bit of a younger version of Luis Gonzalez. The reason is that both players bounced around before finding the right fit later in their careers, and both became superstars that helped the team reach the postseason. It should be a fun series with the Impalers, and the Hammers want to wish the Impalers and their GM Jim Cox the very best of luck. In addition, the Hammers want to congratulate Istanbul and Manama in clinching the other playoff births.
