Jerusalem, IRL – We are at the midway point of the UMEBA season, let’s take a look at the season so far, and hand out some grades & mid-season awards.

Team Stats:
Hitting: At the halfway pole the team has a slash of .267/.334/.458 – all three categories lead the UMEBA. Down from last year’s 2039 of .294/.351/.471. But still good enough for first place. Grade – A-

Pitching: The J-Town hurlers won’t be undone by their offensive counterparts. They lead the UMEBA in xFIP, are 2nd in Home Runs allowed (77) / HR% (2.61%) and, lead the league with a .221 opponent’s BA against. However, the Achilles’s heal of this staff does have some issues with control – (256BB) placing them at the bottom third of the league. Grade - B

Fielding: The Hammers lead the league in overall defensive efficiency with a solid .731 ranking. We are below the league average in Errors (46) and in turning DP (62). Couple this with the pitching staffs control issues, could cost this team in a crucial spot if they make the playoffs. Grade – B

Mid-Year POTY Award HittingYoup Lenoir
This Belgium born 22yo leads or is at the top of each of the offensive categories. He leads the UMBA in OPS hovering around a very respectable .960. This kid has fast-tracked the Hammers minor league system, he has doubled the amount of games and AB from his 2039 stint with the club already at the mid-way point. It should be exciting to what the 2nd half holds for this kid.

Mid-Year POTY Award Pitching - Wu-Han Liu
No doubt the 30yo BBA vet has found his nitch in the UMBEA after bouncing around from between Nashville & Havana and various levels of the minors for the previous 7 years. He has been an anchor in the back end of the Jerusalem bullpen with 49.0 IP a 2-0 record and a 1.469 ERA & 2.310 FIP.

Mid-Year Dog House – P Mashario "Big Papi" Ogwa. The team was seriously considering signing 50 Cent to replace Big Papi this season. It only took about 40 games to determined his guy didn’t have it this year. He had an ERA north of 8, and walked more that he struck out for most of this time with Jerusalem. He was demoted down to AAA to try and find himself.

Here's looking forward to the 2nd half turns out…

Great idea with the Mid-Year Dog House award... that's my kind of cynical award...
