Switch or Swap

Fans thought that the two were just messing around on the field during pre game warm ups. Garcia was fielding grounders at second base. De la Cruz was fielding them at short during the pre game warm ups. Fans assumed they would see them in their usual spots as soon as that first pitch was thrown. But lo and behold that would not be the case. They stayed at what would seem to be an unfamiliar spot to each of them. They didn't play like it was unfamiliar. They hooked up for a double play like they had before. Just from different sides of the field this time. After the game Coach Martell was asked if the change was going to be something we would see more of. " If you consider from now on seeing it again, well then you will probably see it again. We feel we have the best gloves in the middle of the infield in this league. We feel they are better this way. So that's how we are going to play them from now on." The pair seemed to be at ease while playing and when asked about swapping positions both players seemed to be happy with the new arrangement. Time will tell if the fans and the media agree with the move. Apparently the plan is to play them at those positions for a full season next year.
