2039.1 A Title for the Holy Land

Post by bschr682 » Tue Jun 18, 2019 3:04 pm

It was a long, hard fought season but at then end the Hebrew Hammers stood atop the pile as Champions of the first full UMEBA season. The team rode a good pitching staff, poor defense and an absolutely prolific offense all season long. Many of the best players Jerusalem has to offer are fairly young and surely more talent can be plucked from the free agent market as BBA opportunities dry up.

Here is a quick look at some of the top performers of the season.

Baba Lue - Signed shortly after the season began, Lue quickly settled in as the most fear power hitter in the league. Blasted 50 homers.
Jesus Alvarado - Robin to Lue's Batman, Alvarado did fine work as the teams primary DH belting 41 homers and terrorizing opposing pitching.
Ramon Suarez - Didn't put up quite as good of a season as in 2037 but led the team with 15 wins and soaked up nearly 200 innings. That's very valuable.
Angel Guerrero - Signed late in the season, Guerrero only made 12 starts but it certainly made an impression. The crafty lefty will look to be a workhorse going into next season.
Chester Owens - Owens has been a stud from the get go. A liability in the field but a beast at the plate.
Jose Ramirez - The young Brazilian is looking like one of the first UMEBA all time greats should he avoid getting snagged by the BBA.
Flynn Johnson - Signed late in the season but provided instant, ridiculous value. Barring injury, Johnson will be the scariest hitter in the league for years to come.

Congrats, Brett. A belated “well deserved!” You built a beast in Jerusalem.

I still miss the UMEBA - it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Yes, even after the trades you are definitely the team to beat in UMEBA --- well, you and Cairo might be about even, but there is a long gap between the two of you and the rest of us.

The gap has most certainly closed this offseason.
