Is There a Doctor in the House?

Sydney Sharks Manager Kang Der must be wondering who broke a mirror or spilled salt as he watches the 7-Day and 60-Day Injured Lists continue to grow. Three more GBC level players were added to the non-playing wounded. Starting pitcher Geoffrey Robert was placed on the 60 Day IL with a torn labrum. Robert is likely done for the season and at the ripe old age of 31, with THAT injury, it is very possible we have seen the last of Robert in the Blue and Gray. Also making an appearance on the Wounded Wagon is LF Topan Andjeng. He was placed on the 7-Day IL with a torn right thumb ligament. Finally, RP Brodie Diprose was placed on the 7-Day IL with a strained shoulder. Andjend is expected to miss roughly five weeks and should be back in a uniform near the end of August this season. Andjang's injury came last Thursday vs the Cairo Pharoahs while diving for a ball off the bat of Shane Smith. Diprose will be out for just two weeks.

To replace Andjang and Robert, the Shark's have called up Starting pitchers, Don Castor, and Luis Alonso. The Shark's also placed RP Jordan Knowles on waivers. If he clears he will likely be sent down to AAA Lago.

The Last Sim
The Sharks are coming off of a short four game road trip to Cairo where they took three-of-four games from the Pharaohs. Wasim Ala' banged out homers in all four games, but the final game, a 4-3 loss, ended the Sharks' seven game win streak, their longest of the season. Ala' was the obvious MVP of the sim. Ala' went 5-for-16 with four homers and five RBIs. Right-hander Harold Newbold made an impressive start this week. In his first start of the season, Newbold went 7.1 IP with no walks and five strikeouts. Pitching well enough for the win. Unfortunately, closer, Carlos Rocha gave up an 8th inning home run in the final game to take the loss.

Featured Player
SP Niegloslaw Woywitka - More than just a bunch of vowels and 'w's stuffed into a meat bag, Woywitka has become the ace of the Sydney staff. Woywitka was the 6th overall pick in the 2049 draft and has been as good as the hype since his callup imidway through the 2053 season. Woywitka even won the GBC Pitcher of the Year Award in 2056. So far this year the hard throwing right hander is putting together arguable his best season. He is currently 7-4 in 18 starts with a 3.41 ERA, which would be his best. He is also keeping the ball in the zone, wlaking just 1.5 batters per nine inniings. This better than 2055 when he led the league with 2.2 batters walked per nine.

Fun at the Old Ballpark!
The Shark's will welcome the London Monarchs to the Blacktown International Sportspark.

It will be a chance to make up ground on the first place Monarchs who lead the Sharkies by 8 1/2 games. Monday, the 15th will be a salute to Olivia Newton John Night. Australia's pop queen, who passed away 25 years ago, will play a full holographic concert that will cover all of her greatest hits, including the AI generated hits from the 40's. The first 1,500 fans will get a chance to meet her virtually after the show. Please, do not try and touch her as it will ruin the illusion for all of her fans.
