With the calendar month swapping over again, it's time to look back at how your Sydney Sharks done in may.

Image
The Sharks went 11-14 during the month and currently sit 7th in the GBC, 21 games behind division-leading Cairo Pharaohs. Guess the bright side for Sydney fans, it was better than the 10-18 in May. The Sharks sit in the bottom half of the league in all batting statistical categories. The lone brights spots are fourth in strikeouts (376) and fourth in stolen bases (33).On the pitching side it isn't much better but they do sit first in bases on balls (129) and fourth in hits allowed (515).

Arapeta Ebena & Ryan Domínguez led the pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA during the month of May. Both appeared in four games each. Closer You-cheng Hang pitched accumulated six saves during the month while accumulating a 1-2 record with a 3.29 ERA. Niegloslaw Woywitka and Rowan Tucker led the starting rotation. Woywitka accumulated a 3-0 record, while starting five games. In his 31.0 innings pitched he accumulated a 3.48 ERA with a WAR of 1.1. Tucker went 3-2 in his five games started. In his 34.0 innings pitched, he accumulated a 3.71 ERA.

MacKenzie Birnie made the case for why he should be getting more playing time at first base during the month. The first baseman appeared in 11 games with 14 at bats. In those at bats he accumulated a .500 batting average with seven hits, five runs batted in and five walks. The person in front of him on the depth chart, Harry S. Stamper III went .278/.305/.378/.683 during the month with two home runs and six runs batted in. Mohammed bin Mus'ad led the way for the everyday starters. The 21-year-old third baseman accumulated a .365/.408/.531/.939 statline, appearing in 25 games with 96 plate appearances. bin Mus'ad led the team with 18 runs batted in during the month. Milojica Kraljevic and Geaney Fayround out the leaders on the batting side. Kraljevic went .299/.364/.567/.931 leading the team during the month with eight doubles and tieing Fay for the team lead with six home runs. Keep saving the day, Harry! And keep in mind, he doesn’t have to pay taxes on that $7.5M extension.
