2054-6

SIGNATURE SHARKS RE-SIGN EARLY October 10, 2054
The Sharks had a few key players sign extensions throughout the week. Let's see who signed on the dotted line:

LF Jim Ashford (34)
1 Year, $8,000,000 (8.0 Mil AAV)

Hardly a surprise as even ownership demanded GM Aaron Wharram to bring him back for another year at all cost. After a bit of negotiating they came to an agreement on a one year deal. Wharram was reportedly thrilled to have the deal go through as Ashford looks to anchor the outfield with his elite fielding and hitting.

2054 Stats: .316 AVG, 18 HR, 81 RBI

1B Harry S Stamper III (27)
1 Year, $7,500,000 (7.5 Mil AAV)

After joining the team last year after a sub-par season, Stamper III showed improvement in his power batting and has been a lock-down first basemen, committing just 4 errors in 159 starts (at 1B) and led the league in Put Outs with 1376. While his average dipped a tiny bit, he hit a career high 29 Homeruns and will look to continue this solid production for next season.

2054 Stats: .268 AVG, 29 HR, 87 RBI

2B Geany Fay (28)
1 Year, $8,500,000 (8.5 Mil AAV)

Another solid infielder stays with the Sharks. Finishing the year with a much improved average and striking out less, Fay looks to continue these developments into a team looking to make the extra leap next year. He had a resounding 5.0 WAR, a new career high, and was a defensive juggernaut throughout the year, leading all second basemen in the league in Assists (483) and Zone Rating (10.8).

2054 Stats: .268 AVG, 32 HR, 83 RBI

SOME UNCERTAINITY IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH SHARK TEETH TROPHY WINNER

After having a stellar year at the plate, it's clear that a hefty raise would have to come with it. This seems to be true with 1B Hugh Mangrouthormone, with rumors speculating he wants a double digit contract to stay with the Sharks.

"There's no doubt he's had a year that warrants such money," says Mangrouthormone's agent, "it comes down to how much the Sharks are willing to pay for there player of the year."

Mangrouthormone (34), had a year to remember for the Sharks, crushing 43 Homeruns and driving in 113 runs. However at his ever increasing age, there is cause for concern that this may be the most productive year he has, as he does turn 35 next year. That and with the knowledge several sharks players will need raises, Mangrouthormone may be the odd one left out.

"He wants to stay a Shark," says his agent, "but he needs to be properly compensated for that to happen."

While a tough decision for Wharram in the coming weeks, it should be noted that Milojica Krajolivic can fill the vacant DH role should a deal not be made.

Mangrouthormone finished the year with a .240 AVG, 43 HR, 113 RBI, .547 SLG%, .803 OBP.

I think HGH has more value in the GBC.

Oh for sure, but he’s wants a hefty contract which with the salary cap might be difficult to keep in.
