Mumbai Jumbai - 49.1: Jim "Let It Be" Slade Takes Reins of Metro Stars

Post by JimSlade » Mon Dec 20, 2021 6:57 am

The Mumbai Metro Stars announced last week that Jim Slade would be taking over as the team's GM. Not to be confused with a hands-on, obsessive GM of the same name in another league, this Jim Slade is a self-described "Let It Be guy."

"It's like when you buy a new house in January," Slade told the assembled media, "and you know not to rip up any ugly weeds in the backyard until you get through a whole summer. By July, they could turn into the most beautiful bushes."

The team rewarded their new leader by taking first place the Bancroft League. It's rumored that Slade is already countering with an extension for legendary manager Gula Afiba.

Although Slade preaches patience, he pointedly referenced the team's culture. "I am willing to wait for talent to blossom, but we want to build layers of leadership. We want to put opponents on their heels, and that starts with hustle."

It was probably no coincidence that C Vicente Melendez and 2B William Drew, two of the team's unsung heroes, were watching their new GM's press conference off to the side.

Mumbai baseball fans are excited to see where this lands. Despite frequent denials, if this Jim Slade has anything in common with his evil twin in that other league, he will be making a series of deals to refashion the margins of his organization's rosters, from top to bottom. For now, in his words, "I'm going to see what June brings."
