Metro Stars Insider Part 2

Sources within the Mumbai front office have recently revealed that they are growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of results from their middle relief corps. The Metro Stars in May shook up their bullpen by summoning Derry Vacher and Douglas Wils from the Lagos Wreckers. Also Joe D'Antonio was claimed off waivers from Jerusalem. The results have been mixed at best with only Vacher providing solid innings. It's expected management will seek out some help not only for the bullpen, but also the starting rotation come deadline time.

Mumbai has reached out to the agent of free agent to be William Drew and offered a contract extension. Drew has been very solid since signing during the off season posting a sturdy .308/.366/.468 while playing a steady defense.

Manual Marino has slowly starting to lose playing time at 1st base to Andy Seekins. Marino was signed with the expectations that he could provide offense near his 2045 efforts (.848 OPS with Beirut in 2045), but he's struggled immensely with a .213 batting average through 201 plate appearances. Seekins had been getting a start at 1B every forth game, but it's rumored that he's going to getting starts at 1B once every third game.

With Sancho Castillo landing on the DL for the next 2 weeks one name to keep an eye on is Carlos Reyes. Reyes was rumored to be in trade negotiations shortly after the season began, but was taken off the block because manager Gula Afiba liked his ability to play 3B. Reyes in has quietly put up a .849 OPS in a modest 72 plate appearances so far this year.

Castillo going down was a gift in hindsight. It showed me Reyes can play. He was elevated to starter in the playoffs.
