The Mumbaikar Vol 3 Ep 1 Time is a flat circle

Post by FuzzyRawley » Tue Mar 31, 2020 5:50 pm

Spring has dawned in Mumbai which doesn't mean much in this Maharashtra city located at a latitude of 18 degrees North. The 12 million inhabitants of the city take little notice of the change in the weather in April when the average temperature increases to 32.7 c from 31.5 c. Nor do those same 12 million inhabitants take much notice of UMEBA's most storied franchies, the Metro Stars. Last season saw a paltry 13,878 mumbaikars show up for games. Apparently, the game of baseball is too short for a city that's used to cricket and games that have tea breaks and last over multiple days.

Nevertheless, baseball is slowly gaining a foothold in this stinking hot city, despite GM Geoff Webb's inability to field a product that best resembles The 1981 Cleveland IndiansSpeaking of Indians, its a curious thing to Indian fans of baseball, that there is a team named the Indians...in Cleveland, whose mascot does not resemble the type of Indians found in Mumbai.)

The Metro Stars enter the 2042 season with little to no expectation, except to shed salary and get younger. Trying to eek out as many wins as possible from this old, expensive and shitty fielding team, GM Geoff Webb announced the signing of Isa Abdul-Nassir as manager.

Abdul-Nassir is one the Metro Stars more expansive bench signings yet and signals to UMEBA that despite the clear lack of youth and talent, Mumbai isn't quite ready to throw in the towel on 2042. Only 162 games will tell if this is a step forward or just a return to the 2014 season of mediocrity.

Mumbai is the god-damn class of the UMEBA! Pull yourself together, Geoff. And, go get that United Cup!

What Doug said! This is the class franchise of the league - if you can't win games, at least bury 'em in verbiage!

Found Mumbai's and the world's anthem for this season:

Mumbai, Jerusalem, blah, blah, blah. I see into the future old ex GMs of the Brewster sat on their rocking chairs talking to their grandkids, great-grandchildren "I was lucky enough to see that Athens expansion team grow, boy could they play baseball, they walked round with class as well not like today."

I like the tie in to the Cleveland Indians and I think the Cairo franchise has some things in common with Mumbai this year. A year of adjustment to learn the ways of the UMEBA!
