The Mumbaikar Vol 1 Ep 1 - Relief Corp

Post by FuzzyRawley » Thu Sep 19, 2019 7:05 pm

After a season which saw Mumbai win 96 games in the Bancroft league, the Metro Stars are looking to continue the success by building on depth. Looking to the upcoming season, the team is well set up with several long-term player contracts in place and only two players, relievers Gonzalez and Cruz have filed for free agency.

Mumbai is currently looking at options to fill the hole these two relievers leave. Current options are to call up players from the AAA Lagos Wreckers or to shop in the FA market. From the Wreckers, the obvious choice is the South Korean Sang-Mok O who posted a solid 2.89 ERA (171 ERA+) with a 0.88 WHIP and an opposing batter BABIP of 0.230 over 37.1 IP. Sang-Mok is known for his fierce loyalty and is not injury prone.

Looking beyond O, the Kansan, Juan Rocha is the next obvious choice. Rocha had an impressive 2039 season where he laid down a 2.41 ERA (215 ERA+), a 1.1 WAR and a WHIP of 1.18 over 18 IP. All this while opponents were getting a lot of lucky hits which is reflected in his .383 opponent BABIP.

There's not much to say on the free agent front at this stage, since most FA's out there will be holding out for a BBA contract, but relievers being the market with the largest supply, it should be expected that there will be some solid RP's looking for work heading into spring training.

For our next episode, GM Fuzzy Webb will give us an in depth look at the Metro Stars starting pitching.

Sounds like two solid options to make the jump into the Mumbai bullpen. Re: free agency, look no further than David Hall's 2039 campaign to show just what kind of gems UMEBA GMs can unearth once unemployed players start looking for work outside of the BBA.

Best of luck!

And, I’m sure you know this, but don’t forget to set your relative ratings to the UMEBA, rather than the BBA. It gives you a whole different perspective on the free agents. Good luck and have fun!
