Gibson Arrives in Mumbai After Lengthy "Layover"

New Metro Stars GM Will Gibson arrived in Mumbai today, slightly behind schedule. Gibson had a bit of a delay during his planned stopover in Dubai, as he explains:

"I was told to fly to the Middle East. Those were the only instructions I was given. I figured that Dubai sounded nice enough, so I booked myself a one way ticket and figured I would hear more after I arrived."

Upon arrival, the former physician was detained by Emirati security after a suitcase full of narcotics was discovered in his possession. "I guess it totally slipped my mind that I had a bag full of drugs with me. I've never been caught before," said Gibson. The new Mumbai GM was supposed to arrive before UMEBA Opening Day, but did not actually arrive until more than two weeks into the season. He spent a total of 11 days in a Dubai jail cell before being released on bail.

"As soon as I got out I checked my phone and saw that I had over 200 missed calls from the UMEBA and BBA league offices. I called and, after I explained what had happened, they told me that I had been assigned to Mumbai. Mumbai? That's not even in the Middle East! Well at least it's not Beirut. Or even worse, Bucharest. Blech! There is no viler place on this Earth."

Gibson plans to get straight to work as the general manager of the Mumbai Metro Stars. The Metro Stars finished last season at 93-69 and have gotten off to a good start this year at 8-5. Upon being asked for his initial impression of his new squad, Gibson remarked, "All of these guys suck. I just hope they suck less than the other teams."
