Score: Mumbai 6, Bucharest 5

LP: Ephrem Lacchelo PQR: 0

Highlights: Mumbai came from behind Friday night to catch and tie Bucharest in the bottom of the 9th, and then went on to win a 6-5 walk-off victory in the 10th inning. The Metro Stars were trailing 5-4 going into the 9th, but tied the game thanks to aggressive base running by first baseman Garth Hill, a single by right fielder António Ortíz and a run-scoring fielders choice by second baseman Gilbert Hansen. That set the stage for extra-inning heroics by DH Wilbur Green, who led off the 10th and smashed the first pitch from Ephrem Lacchelo some 412 feet into the right-center stands for a walk-off homer.

Player of the Game: Wilbur Green
Cliché of the Game: “To not win that game stings a little bit,” said Bucharest manager Moses Tallchief.

Highlights: Bucharest pounced on Mumbai starter Tim Oliver, scoring a run in the 1st inning and then another two on a 2-run homer from right fielder Gabriel Molina in the third to take a lead the Balauri would never relinquish. Although Mumbai mounted a late rally, the Bucharest bullpen and closer Ephrem Lacchelo shut it down.

Player of the Game: Danny O’Reilly
Cliché of the Game: “Baseball is about momentum, and we feel we’ve got it in our favor after that win,” said Gabriel Molina.

SV: León González PQR: 2

Highlights: The Metro Stars took advantage of a late defensive lapse by Bucharest center fielder Carlos Sandoval to nip the Balauri 7-5 Sunday evening. Mumbai went into the bottom of the 8th trailing 5-4, but a pair of singles and walk loaded the bases, and a sacrifice fly by right fielder António Ortíz brought in one run. One batter later, catcher José Romero lifted a lazy flyball to medium right center field that Sandoval appeared to lose in the lights. The ball fell in and two runs scored, allowing Mumbai to take the lead.

Player of the Game: George House, Bucharest starter, who allowed 3 runs in 5 innings.
Cliché of the Game: “You know, at the end of the day, it’s about who scores the most runs,” said Mumbai Manager Mark Bruner.
