Highlights: The Balauri snagged an extra-inning win over the Metro Stars Thursday evening at the Ballpark of Bucharest scoring an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th to take the game 6-5. First baseman Mike Cook led off the inning with a sharp line drive double to right off Mumbai closer Rafael Cruz. He scored two batters later when Cruz threw wildly to first on an infield tap to the right of the mound by third baseman Laurent Fernandez.

Player of the Game: Mike Manning, Mumbai starter, who went 5 innings and allowed 1 unearned run.
Cliché of the Game: “I like our resilience,” said Laurent Fernandez.

Highlights: Mumbai broke open a tie game with three runs in the 5th inning, then held on to take a 6-4 victory over Bucharest Friday evening. Second baseman Gilbert Hansen provided the key blow in the 5th when he hit a 2-run homer to left, providing the cushion starter Salvador Gonzáles would need for the win.

Player of the Game: Salvador Gonzáles
Cliché of the Game: “We can always improve and get better, but we’re feeling confident after that win,” said Gonzáles.

Highlights: The Bucharest Belauri pounded Mumbai pitching Saturday evening, taking the game 8-3. First baseman Matt Brear (3-4, 1 HR, 3 RBIs) and right fielder Mark Brown (1-4, 1 double, 3 RBIs) helped key the attack.

Cliché of the Game: “We’ll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow,” said Mark Brown.

Highlights: Bucharest gave up a one-run lead in the 6th inning Sunday evening, but grabbed it back in the bottom of the frame and went on to beat Mumbai 3-2. Shortstop Guillermo Guzmán drove in the winning run when he slashed a line drive into left, scoring third baseman Laurent Fernandez from second.

Player of the Game: Alfredo González, Mumbai left fielder who went 3-4 with a double and home run.
Cliché of the Game: “It feels good to get this one,” said Guillermo Guzmán.

Lots of former Hustler farmhands here. Brear can rake. Gonzales and Valenzuela were minor league organizational soldiers for me. Cruz was actually on my big league team for a while. Love seeing this!

Cruz has been an excellent closer. His ERA doesn't show it because I gave him a couple of starts early on (the rotation was, um, not good) and he got shelled, but he's been extremely reliable closing out games (converted 17 of 18 save opportunities so far).

Gonzalez has been a workhorse in a setup role - 50 IP, 2.68 ERA, 2.69 FIP, 2.7 Cmd. Ratio.
