Highlights: The Mumbai Metro Stars won a tight game against the Bucharest Balurai Monday evening, thanks to timely hitting from center fielder Michael MacCrain. The teams entered the bottom of the 7th inning tied at 3, but that didn’t last long. MacCrain led off the inning, and starter Reggie Gascoigne grooved a fastball letter-high that MacCrain lashed 353 feet into the leftfield stands for a home run to take the lead. The Mumbai bullpen pitched effectively the rest of the way, nailing down the win.

Player of the Game: Michael MacCrain.
Cliché of the Game: “I was a little disappointed,” said Bucharest Manager Moses Tallchief. “We could’ve and should’ve scored more runs.”

Score: Bucharest 6, Mumbai 2
WP: Juan Valenzuela PQR: 2
LP: Takeshi Tanabe PQS: 3

Highlights: The Bucharest Balurai broke open a scoreless game in the 4th inning, scoring three runs to take a lead over the Mumbai Metro Stars they would never relinquish. A walk and a single put two runners on against Mumbai starters Takeshi Tanabe in the top of the 4th, which brought up second baseman Edgardo Pagán, who hit a first-pitch hanging slider 402 feet into the left center stands for a 3-run homer. Althought Mumbai would pull within a run in the bottom of the 7th, Bucharest added two more runs in the 8th and another in the 9th to insure the win. After the game, Tanabe was diagnosed by the team trainer as having a "dead arm" and placed on the disabled list. He'll be out for at least a week.

Player of the Game: Edgardo Pagán
Cliché of the Game: “You win some, you lose some. I don’t get too caught up in all that,” said Pagán.

Mumbai rapped out 13 hits against Balurai pitching, while Bucharest racked up 14 in a losing cause. Metro Stars closer Rafael Cruz survived a shaky 9th inning, in which he allowed a run on three hits and a walk. He finally coaxed third baseman Laurent Fernandez, who had been swinging a hot bat, to ground into a fielder’s choice with the bases loaded to end the game.

Player of the Game: Laurent Fernandez
Cliché of the Game: “I still think this team has room for improvement,” said Mumbai center fielder Michael MacCrain, who delivered a key two-run single to tie the game in the second inning.

He’s a very good UMEBA center fielder. Seems to always be in the middle of the action.
