2062 Shark Bites TN No. 6 - Important Meeting

Edgardo Reyes burst out in laughter. I smiled with him.

I had just called him a lazy dumbass. He took it well. We have that kind of relationship. He's here to air out his grievances about not debuting in the GBC this year. It's a valid complaint. He's the No. 15 prospect and for good reason. He's cut down 114 batters in 126.1 innings since joining us in 2061 and only four times in that span has a batter managed to homer off of him.

He's a dude.

"Here's the thing, E-Rey, you struggle in new environments at times. You're an unreal talent and I want the best for you. Which is why the plan has been to debut you on our 2063 Opening Day roster after spending a few weeks tossing in spring training. That way you hit the ground running."

Reyes huffs. But he knows I've got a point. Sure, he treated Single A batters like children, but frustrations have spilled over once we made the jump to AAA. Reyes allowed four runs in his five innings. A couple weeks later it was 11 runs across three outs in two outings. He's been prone to a blow up in between his stretches of dominance.

But there's no denying the talent. The circle change is among the best in a league he hasn't thrown a pitch in yet. The ball stays on the ground.

"You crushed spring ball this year. I trust you'll do the same next spring. And when you do, not only will you be on the roster, but you'll be the closer, at that."

He grins. I admit I'm a little worried about the space between now and then. He's not the greatest at time management. When he's forced to wake up and throw, he's a beast. Reyes worked a 3.09 ERA in Lagos' day games. Night games? 4.54.

We'll work on it.
