57.06 Riding Higher than the Mountaintops of Extreme Ironing

With the standings as tight as they are, it's no wonder that no GMs picked up my increasingly frantic calls ahead of the Trade Deadline. A surging team is a scary team, and between cap considerations and high competition levels (to say nothing of my well-known cutthroat negotiation style), London will forge ahead as is.

But what an as is this is! The rotation charged ahead in the month of July, led by a 2.18 ERA from veteran Mokichi Yamamoto and a 2.35 posting from Ielemia Faletose. Both phenom starters are locked up through the 2059 season at reasonable prices, and this GM will work to do the same with other stars if their agents are sympathetic to the cause.

And, when the rotation faltered slightly in August, the lineup slugged their way out of it with 41 HRs over the course of the month. Boy, can they slug. Taylor Barfoot celebrated his 300th HR at age 31, putting him well on the way to the 500 club if he can continue hitting 30-40 into his late 30s. Nigel Laverick II continues to shine bright, leading the team with a .996 OPS and making his best bid for a BBA re-entry next year. Mauro Felman is not far behind with his .952 figure. Each of the three sluggers has a strong chance at 40+ HRs on the season.
