The new leadership in London appears to have completed their overhaul of the staff with the hires of Assistant General Manager David Clark and Bench Coach José Bueno.
David Clark
Given the very hands-on style of the new GM duo, they felt that they needed to find an assistant who was more in tune with their approach to the game. After interviewing a number of candidates, the Breums felt that Clark’s philosophy aligned closely with theirs and that he would be a good fit with the other members of the London staff, citing the importance of chemistry. Clark is said to be delighted to join the Monarchs organization.
José Bueno
The 59-year-old Bueno hails from the Dominican Republic, and he brings a lifetime of baseball knowledge to his new position. He is said to be particularly good at relating to the older players, helping them leverage their experience to navigate the natural erosion of their skills, although he is equally eager to assist younger players in refining their mechanics. In addition to his bench coach duties during games, Bueno will work with the team’s catchers.
