2052.02 Monarch McMusings 1: Here's Another Fine Mess You've Gotten Me Into

There's a lot that needs looked at, but here are some immediate concerns:

1. Get players to take pressure off overworked minor league teams.
That weird reporter isn't wrong. There's far too many teams playing too shorthanded. I can't even get rid of the horrible players yet.
2. Look for improvements at the top.
Not seeing anything that can help us immediately and there have to be better options.
3. Make the best of what we have.
Some of the issues have to be from putting the right people in the wrong positions. While working on spending the owner's money (heh heh), there has to be a way to win more than 3 times out of every ten we take the field, and that's on a good day.
4. Evaluate staff.
Not making any immediate judgments here, but if there's better coaches available, we're going to take the plunge. We've got the money right now.
5. Don't Panic
That author guy has it right. This is going to take a long time.

Actions Taken:

• Moved a few players to the disabled list.
• Made it clear to the current manager of the Monarchs, Leon Sandcastle, that *I* I will be providing hefty input on the pitching staff and lineups.
• Adjusted the rotation so that the starters with the better metrics (ERA/FIP/WHIP/K-9) are given more chances to start (aka Jordan Knowles gets to show he can be a part of the future rotation).
• Gave RP David Prigent a chance to show he can lock down games as needed (if any are ever needed!) and prove the 2051, 39-save, 1.42 WHIP version is what we might re-sign vs the 7 blown save, 6+ ERA, 2.27 WHIP (how is that even possible?) player of 2052 that might not even finish the season here, let alone get re-signed.
• Moved B Nerdal to be the primary starter at second base. Time to see if this R5 pick of my predecessor is worth keeping.
• Same for Carl McFayden, though at shortstop.
• Gave Ernest Peters a shot at being the primary utility guy, with some time at second, third, and short as the primary rest person.
• Ensured there's at least a bare minimum of needed starting lineups across the entire minors. It's going to take a few days at least to get them staffed back up, but at least they can all be trying to win a game with a credible lineup.

There's a lot of work to do, but this is a start.
