Offensively Challenged (Monarchives, 2051 sim 15) [PP:2051.7]

With a break in the schedule of sorts, the Monarchs had a light-week with only four games. They lost the final game in Tokyo, the infamous Fernandez reportedly trashed his motel room, and then the team returned home to take 2 of 3 games at home versus Cairo. They have one final game against Cairo, then will hit the road to Athens for 3 games and come home to host Sao Paulo for another 3.

Sadly, the offensive woes continue for the Monarchs. The team remains last in runs, batting average and OPS in the GBC. GM Bauer is putting off making major changes until the offseason. A lot of the players on London have 1-year contracts, so there is a lot of flexibility to reboot and reroll the team regardless of what happens the rest of the way. This lessens the urgency to make a series of movies. Once Wimbledon is over, perhaps GM Bauer will start to make a better assessment of his roster. Then again, it's only a matter of time before the US Open starts.

This week's Knight Award goes to SP Daniel Camacho. The GBC ERA leader had a splendid outing versus Sao Paulo, only surrendering 1 hit and no runs over 5 innings of work before letting the bullpen finish the job. His four walks and his control (91 pitches) however, remain a concern and limit him from being a team workhorse. In his later years, he'll likely be a nice piece in someone's bullpen, but for the time being he remains a starter.

This week's Dunce Award goes to 2B Takechi Eida. In this batch of games, he only had 1 hit in 16 bats. He did offset that with 3 walks, but none of those resulted in runs. The team needs to get much more out of their leadoff man to get their offense unstuck, let alone stay alive for the playoffs.

The Monarchs remain in 7th place in the GBC Standings with a 43-49 record. There's a long way to go, but barring an unexpected surge of offense, they are going to need some help from the rest of the GBC teams to sniff the playoffs.
