Baseball at Wimbledon (Monarchives, 2051 sim 13) [PP:2051.5]

The Monarchs rebounded from a 2-5 struggle in the prior week and managed to win 3 and lose 3 this time around. As of June 30, the GBC standings currently find the Brisas and Pearls tied at first place with identical records. The Monarchs are currently in 7th place, but at least are only 5 1/2 games out of first.

With Wimbledon in full swing, GM Mike Bauer's office has been dark and vacant lately. The tennis-obsessed GM has been bringing his notes and laptop with him and claims to be getting a lot done from the tennis press box.

"It seems kind of ridiculous," remarked Monarchs pitcher Juan Morales. "It's not as if Rafael Nadal is going to abandon his hall-of-fame tennis career to join our team. Well, maybe in our GM's dreams he does."

This week's Knight Award goes to Nicolai Reshetkov. The third baseman has been on a definite hot streak, going 11-for-21 with 2 homers and 5 RBI's in his last 5 games. Now sporting a .329 batting average, he arguably carries the London offense squarely on his back most days.

But alas, the Dunce Award goes to Leon Ludeman. Ludeman got tattooed by the Hebrew Hammers to the tune of 8 hits and 7 earned runs through 4 2/3 innings in his last start. His ERA currently sits at 4.83, which matches his career worst in 2048 with the Hammers. This is a contract year for Ludeman, and a lot of 2052 earnings are in jeopardy if he continues to be this inconsistent.

Up next, the Monarchs host the Hammers for a final game, then span the globe for a road trip with 3 games in Sao Paulo and Tokyo in succession. As for GM Bauer, his butt remains firmly planted at the All England club as Wimbledon begins to reach its crescendo. Can the Monarchs win in spite of their distracted management?

True, but hitting 125+ mph on the radar gun with a serve is pretty cool!
