3B António Baca

When you get shut out it's hard to find a bat worthy of a Player of the Game Award, when your pitchers give up 9 runs then you take another look at the line up.

With an asterisk next to his name António Baca was given the award against the Kings in a 9-0 defeat, reason being he was the only Cedars player to get an hit, he may have broken up Lenny Peron's no hitter but that wasn't the main reason of the award. Adversity that's the reason Baca was given the award by the Cedars players, Baca faced an uphill struggle to get a seat on the major league bus. Put on the trade block in Spring Training and with no takers it was the waiver wire still no takers, never once did his head drop he knew if he kept chipping away he'd get a shot in the line up. 23 plate appearances later he's a fixture in the line up all be it mostly against righties but he'd take that over sitting on the couch waiting for the phone to ring.
