Dugout Dirt 2041.12 - Week 7 Summary

The Beirut Cedars lost 2 out of 3 games on the road at Bucharest before returning home and winning 2 out of 3 games against Mumbai. In the third game against Bucharest, the Cedars pulled out a 4 to 3 win after a 3-run shot in the top of the 8th was delivered by Antonio Baca. At home against Mumbai, the opening game treated the fans to a 6 to 0 win behind the pitching of R.J. Hughes who scattered 3 hits over 8+ innings.

The pecking order in the BANC standings did not change over the last week as all 4 teams went 3-3. Bucharest is still at the top at 24 – 17 while Beirut is a game and a half back in second place at 23 – 19. Mumbai is currently in third at 21 -20 and Jerusalem is in fourth at 21 – 21.

The players providing significant contributions during Week 7 were:
SP Henning Veenman – Second consecutive strong start allowing 1 earned run in 7 innings.
MR John Jefferson – Went in for his 7th consecutive outing without allowing a run. This streak covers 6.2 innings over the last 34 days.
SP R.J. Hughes – Gained a win while being one out away from a complete game, scattering 3 hits and striking out 9.
DH Ramiro Marino Hit 2 homers in 14 AB while hitting .500 this past week.
3B Antonio Baca - Hit two homers including a game winning 3 run shot and drove in six runs.
RF Marcos Lambaría – Collected six hits while batting .545 for the week

The Cedars now begin a 20 game road trip. The first stop will be at Jerusalem followed up by a 3 game set against Bucharest. Next game’s projected starter for Beirut wlll be Ruben Nunez (2-5, 4.69 ERA).
