Dugout Dirt 2041.8 - Week 3 Summary

Post by DugoutDesperado » Mon Jan 06, 2020 5:42 pm

The third week was not the charm for the Cedar faithful as Beirut won only one out of six games in horrendous fashion during this past weeks homestand. The Cedar pitching allowed 55 runs for the week with four of those six games seeing double digits in the run column for the opponents. The sole bright spot was newly acquired Tony Caraballo in a 5-1 win against Jerusalem.
The Bucharest outburst of 10, 14 and 11 runs in their three wins left more inflammation in the ERA’s of the Cedar pitching staff than in a month’s worth of Preparation H commercials. ON the offensive side of the ball, 29 runs in 6 games is not necessarily drought worthy, but it did look anemic compared to the runs given up.
This week’s results rearranges the Bancroft to where Bucharest now shares the lead with Mumbai at 10-8 with Beirut two games behind at 8-10 and Jerusalem at 7-11.
The players providing significant contributions during Week 2 were:
SP Tony Caraballo – Tony notched a win while allowing 1 run over 6 innings and striking out 7.
RP Jose Carrillo – Jose allowed 1 earned run in 6 innings over two outings.
CF Maximo Quezada – Belted another homers and drove in 5 more runs.
3B Antonio Baca – Hit two homers while batting .320 over the week
C Yasutoki Yoshida – Hit .316 for the week while adding a home run.

Next week shows six more home games but this time it will be against teams from the BURT as Cairo and Manama come into town. The projected starter for the Beirut wlll be Henning Veenman (1-2, 6.43 ERA).
