Dugout Dirt 2041.5 - 2041 Cedar Spring Training Wrap-up

Post by DugoutDesperado » Sat Dec 28, 2019 10:30 am

As spring training comes to a close for the Beirut Cedars organization, the team packs its bags to head into the regular season with an 11-19 spring training record. Although the head to head record with Jerusalem turned out some what as hoped, the performances against Burcharest and Mumbai were not as good:
JER 6 – 4
BUC 2 – 8
MUM 3 – 7

All in all, this may be a sign that the BANC will be tighter in 2041 than in 2040.

The hot arms and bats for the Cedars this spring training included:

RP Hector Mata – Allowed no earned runs allowed in 6.2 innings with 6 K’s. This performance was good enough to earn Hector a spot over Pablo Morales at the start of the season.
RP Francisco Luna – Allowing no earned runs allowed in 4.2 innings with 4 K’s which was good enough to give him the nod in the bullpen over Jose Jimenez at the start of the season.
RP Jose Carrillo – Put together an ERA of 1.05 over 8.2 innings with 8 K’s
RP Estaban Gil – His ERA of 1.69 over 5.1 innings with 6 K’s was impressive enough to keep his slot in the bullpen.
SP Abel Gibson – Abel responded to his resigning for $1.9 M with an ERA of 1.80 over 20 innings
RP John Jefferson – Last year’s setup man had a solid spring training with an ERA of 2.70 over 13.1 innings with 15 K’s

3B Tom Coulthard – Had a strong spring training with an average of .389 in the wake of Antonio Baca’s signing. Will preform backup duties at the corners.
LF Dave Brunskill – Returned to his form during 2039 with an average of .385. The Cedar faithful will be interested to see if that carries over into the 2041 regular season.
1B Rick Lindsey – His average of .333 was good enough to take over Dave Bane’s spot for the first three weeks of the season as Bane recovers from a fractured wrist.
2B Chester Owens – Strong spring training with an average of .313 and 3 HR’s.
3B Antonio Baca – The $5M off-season acquisition had an average of .297 with 2 HR’s

The Cedars start their regular season tomorrow at Mumbai against the Metro Stars. The projected starter for the Beirut wlll be R.J. Hughes who led the UMEBA in wins last year with 16.
