Dugout Dirt 2041.3 - Cedars Sign Abel Gibson to $1.9M contract

In what may be the Cedars' last move of the 2041 free agency season, the contract worth $1.9M was signed with starting pitcher Abel Gibson. Gibson was the #2 starter for the Cedars in 2040 with a 10-8 record and a 4.53 ERA last season. This deal also was the last piece of the puzzle that left the entire Beirut squad from 2040 in tact for next season.

Other pitchers signed this off-season by the Cedars include Kenneth Bailey, Francisco Luna and Gilg Winkel. None of these pitchers have significant UMEBA experience to date, but the ratings for Bailey (Stuff 9, Movement 3, Control 2), Luna (7, 4, 3) and Winkel (6, 2, 7) provide some depth to the pitching staff in the event of injury if they do not make the opening day roster.

This leaves the Cedar payroll at $28.2M compared to a $37.5M budget. As the 2041 season progresses, look for the Cedar front office to make some moves if it feels that it is within striking distance of Jerusalem, Bucharest and Mumbai.
