Dugout Dirt 2041.1 - Beirut AA Franchise floats into Peru

Post by DugoutDesperado » Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:23 pm

With the announcement of the South American Baseball League for the ever-expanding UMEBA franchises, the Beirut faithful has started setting its sights on Lima, Peru. No sooner than the ink dried finalizing the location on the shores near downtown, the Lima Reyes have already tagged 30 players to be on the initial roster.
Included in that roster are 16 players from last year’s Ulaanbaatar Horde squad that went 83-57 including 8 pitchers.

The starting rotation at this point is currently slated as:
Brian Hernandez went 11-4 for the Horde last year with 184 K’s in 154 innings.
Francisco Trejo went 11-5 with a 2.63 ERA for the Horde in 2040
Joe D’antonio went 11-6 for the Horde with 230 K’s in 140 innings using a wicked knuckleball that is in his arsenal
Justin Archer went 8-7 with the Horde registering 119 K’s in 106 innings.
Germao Baiano is the lone projected starter that was brought in during the off-season.

On the offensive side of the plate, the key contributers are projected to be:
DH Carlos Ruiz swatted 20 HR’s while hitting .366 for the Horde last year.
LF Kaoru Kodo hit 14HR’s, batted .306 and swiped 29 bases during last season with the Horde.
1B Leonardo Negrete hit .356 while rounding the bases 11 times last year in Ulaanbaatar.
SS Dicky van Ineveld hit .332 while stealing 35 bases with the Horde in 2040.

Time will tell how the inaugural season will go for the Reyes in Lima this year, but the anticipation is high as I am sure it will be across the entire South American Baseball League.
