As the first phase of the 2040 season comes to a close within the Beirut Cedar organization, the Dirt staff decided to provide a season recap of the first of its two farm teams’ regular season antics.

The Victoria Tortoises have paced their way into finishing with a 65-79 record which is a hefty 30 game improvement over the 2039 record of 35-109. There were 6 new faces on the hurling side of the plate to go along with 11 new batters.

A few key players who contributed well to the hard shells this season include:
Reginald Wilson. Right handed hitting 3B who hit .269 with 20 home runs in Victoria this season. His medium glove and cannon arm is a little less than incumbent Tom Couthard, but the offense has been enough to warrant a September call-up.
Ryutaro Ohayashi. 1B Provided an exceptional glove at first while hitting .253 and 11 homers
Travis Lara. Speedy LF with solid glove that hit .259 with 16 homers in his first season within the Cedar organization.
Hector Mata. Reliever has responded with an excellent first full season in the Cedar organization while amassing 30 saves for Victoria and a 3.59 ERA. Hector also registered 55 strikeouts in 52 innings. Don’t be surprised of Hector sees a callout in September as well.
Norberto Lineras. This starter did not let the move from Beirut to Victoria distract him too badly as he racked up an 12-9 record with a 3.12 ERA.
