The season as it turned out could hardly have started better for the Chariot Archers. From the moment new team Ace Ramon Gaza only allowed two unearned runs in the opening 5.2 innings of the season to the final game of the first week. Santiago Rivera pitched the rest of game one to earn his first UMEBA save as Cairo won 9-3 against Bagdad. 8-4 & 10-5 wins completed a sweep in the season’s opening series.
Three runs by Manama in the bottom of the first innings set the Pearls well on the way to handing Cairo their first defeat of the season by the score of 4-1. It was great for Manama who had swept their opening series too, but the Chariot Archers rallied and won the next two games in Manama 4-3 & 9-2.
After that the Chariot Archers finished the week in Istanbul to take on the 1-5 Bosphorus and made short work of the opening game winning 14-4 with 20 hits overall and seven runs in the first innings. Aubrey Anderson going 4 for 4 while scoring three times and driving in three runs.
Batter of the week
Felix Arrojo hit .480/.500/.920 in his opening seven games with three homers and seven runs batted in. He opened the season with two 3-hit games and finished the week with two 2-hit games.
Pitcher of the week
Ramon Garza posted a 2-0 record in his first two starts of 2039, pitching 11.2 innings and giving up four runs ( only two earned).
