Nine games left in the road trip! Istanbul can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The team arrived in Bahrain for a three game series with the Manama Pearls at the Fields.

Game 1- Istanbul and Manama were locked in a pitching duel in the opener. Both teams offense had 8 hits but the biggest one was a solo homer by LF John Garcia in the third inning. After a Kaz Yamamoto groundout, Garcia crushed a 1-2 changeup from SP Feheen Sylvester. That was all the Bosphorus would need as SP Ramon Negron and 3 relievers shut down any Pearl rallies.

Negron pitched 5 innings allowing just 6 hits and giving up a walk while striking out 6. He is now 3-0 with a 1.84 ERA.

RP Kunz Schuck bounced back from some shaky appearances to pitch 2 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit and a walk. He struck out 2.

RP Jose Espinoza continued his good work as of late with 2/3 of an inning with just a hit allowed.

RP Bras Geisteras earned his 19th save of the season. He walked 1 and struck out 1.

Final score: Istanbul wins 1-0.

Game 2- LF John Garcia continues to do damage to the Manama pitching staff and 2B Juan Rodriguez joins the party hitting a three run homer to lead the Bosphorus to a road win.

Garcia was 3 for 4 with a homer, 2 runs scored and an RBI.

Rodriguez was 1 for 4 with that 3 run homer.

SP Francis Wiles pitched another good game going 5 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and no walks. He struck out 3 in just 84 pitches. He is 12-5 with a 2.96 ERA this season.

RP Claudio Escobedo continues pitching well in the ‘pen giving 2 solid innings allowing just a hit and struck out 2.

RP Jose Espinoza pitched another 1/3 inning with a K.

Gesteiras picked up his 20th save allowing a hit and a walk as he walked that tightrope.

Final score: Istanbul wins 5-2.

Game 3- The finale of the series saw Instabul come back from 2-0, 5-2 and 9-5 to ultimately fall in extras to the Pearls. Down 9-5 in the top of the ninth LF John Garcia and RF Arthur Norris hit 2 run homers to tie the game.

In the top of the twelfth 3B Ken Pyke reached on an error and DH Rich Ayers sent him scampering home with an RBI double to the left field corner.

With 2 outs and no one on in the bottom of the twelfth, Manama 3B Jose Roman extends extras with a slow homer off of Claudio Escobedo. In the bottom of the thirteenth, with Escobedo still on the mound, C Colby Stephens singles. Istanbul Manager Jeaic Dalyell called on RP Nadir Akili to snuff out the rally.

2B Grigory Vojjinsky lays down a sac bunt and gets Stephens safely to second. Akili then gets Pinch Hitter Cliff House to bounce back to the mound . Akili bobbles the ball and goes to first to get the out. Stephens was able to get to third with the out. CF Damien Mayne then strokes a single down the first base line scoring Stephens from third.

RF Rich Ayers was 3 for 6 with a run and an RBI.
