Istanbul hosts The Cairo Chariot Archers in a three game series at the Grounds.

Game 1- The home team falls behind 7-2 before scoring 5 in the sixth and then walking it off. In the bottom of the ninth, Bosphorus Star LF John Garcia singled to lead off the inning. Pinch hitter Arthur Norris followed with a walk. Next, pinch hitter Patrick Lue drove the ball deep to right field allowing Garcia to tag up and slide in safely at third, barely beating the throw by the strong armed RF Aubrey Anderson.

With runners at the corners and 1 out, 3B Ken Pike stepped to the plate. The first pitch sinker from STOPPER Caleb Benavides was fouled off by Pyke. Benavides then tried to sneak his cutter in on Pyke who ripped it down the third baseline to score Garcia and begin the celebration.

Garcia was 3 for 5 with a runs scored and 3 RBI.

Istanbul SP Vladimir Reichel struggled in 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and a walk. He had 2 strikeouts and gave up a homer.

RP Nadir Akili pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings allowin just a hit and he struck out 3. He posted his first victory on the season and still has not allowed a run this season.

Final score: Istanbul wins 8-7.

Game 2- SP Ramon Negron was masterful in 7 1/3 innings against the Chariot Archers Batters. Negron allowed just 2 hits and gave up 2 walks while striking out 6 enroute to his first win of the season. He threw exactly 100 pitches (64 for strikes) and sports a 0.63 ERA.

RP Bras Geisteras pitched a clean ninth and struck out 2 earning his 16th save. He has a 1.86 ERA this season.

LF John Garcia was 1-4 with a homer in the sixth. He is hitting .307 with 21 homers and 62 RBI.

Final score: Istanbul wins 2-0.

Game 3- Cairo scores 2 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and hold off any charge by the Istanbul Offense to avoid a sweep at the hands of the BURT leaders. SP Tae-kyun “Tommy” Chong kept the Bosphorus at bay going 6 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. He gave up 2 walks and struck out 2. RP Santiago Rivera pitched the final 2 2/3 innings giving up nothing and striking out 2.

SP Brendan Carr struggled through 4 2/3 innings allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 4 and gave up a homer. He falls to 5-5 with a 5.65 ERA.

Istanbul take on the Bagdad Kings in the last series before the All Star Break.

Game 1- Istanbul never trails as the Bosphorus score 4 runs in the first inning off of Kings SP Gurmu Icharia . Icharia calmed down after that first inning and finished with 6 innings pitched with 4 runs allowed on 3 hits and 4 walks. He did strike out 8 but those 4 walks were killers.

Istanbul SP Kunz Schuck pitched 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 4 walks. He struck out 2 in 90 pitches. He improves to 1-2 with a 5.12 ERA.

LF John Garcia was 1 for 3 with another homer 2 runs scored, a walk and an RBI.

Final score: Istanbul wins 7-3.

Game 2- Istanbul takes an early 1-0 lead but an error and a passed ball contribute to a 3 run fourth and a 4 run seventh for the Kings. SP Francisco Flores took command for the Kings and stymied Istanbul Hitters. He went 6 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits and a couple of walks. He struck out none but relied on his defense to corral the Istanbul offense.

SP Francis Wilespitched well going 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. But RP Bernardino Bertoletti was in trouble from the minute he relieved Wiles as he allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk. He gave up a big 2 run homer to DH Raul Hernandez.

3B Ken Pyke led the Bosphorus going 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Final score: Bagdad evens the series winning 7-1.
