2041.01 - Organizational changes in Istanbul

Today GM Jeffrey Everroad and team owner Samuel Johnson held a press conference at Istanbul Grounds. It was reported that most of the members of the organization did not have their contracts renewed and that they have moved on. Istanbul announced that they have come to terms with most of the replacements.

John Howard

Starting off, Istanbul introduced their new manager, 63 year old American John Howard. Howard last managed for the Victoria Tortoises of the ABA during the 2039 & 2040 season. He had a record of 35-109 in 2039 and a record of 65-79 last season. Howard signed for 2 years for a total of $334,000 per season.

Rizalino Defensor

Istanbul has resigned their AAA pitching coach, David Brown and promoted him to the UMEBA. Brown has been in the organization since 2038, all 3 season with the ABA Dar es Salaam Devils.

The biggest surprise for Istanbul might be Assistant GM Rizalino Defensor. Defensor is pretty much a unproven, unknown commodity in the UMEBA. When asked about him, GM Jeffrey Everroad said "to be honest, we don't know much about Defensor. But we loved the last name. And to be honest all the rest of the candidates were pretty much unknowns as well, so figured we will give him a shot."

Down on the farm, Dar es Salaam Devils also have a complete new management team. Led by 39 year old Paul Wilson. Wilson managed last season for the Baghdad Kinds of the UMEBA. He led them to a 62-100 record. He signed for 1 year contract worth $101,000. Joining Wilson will be pitching coach Nawfal Sulaiman and hitting coach Keith Williams.
