The players have cleared out their lockers and he dust has settled on the 2040 UMEBA season. As we all know Istanbul came up just short on their goal of making the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.


A quick look at team leaders

The outfield paring of Hyung-on Ch'oe & Héctor Correa led the Bosphorus in the average department both hitting .249 on the season. One notch better then Patrick 'Baba' Lue who hit .248 on the season. Lue also led the team in runs batted in at 94.

36 year old catcher Luis Miguel Carrillo led the team in HR and was 2nd behind Lue in runs batted in.

Bernardino 'Two Shoes' Bertoletti in his first season in the UMEBA led the team in wins. Vladimir Reichel
led the team with a 3.91ERA. He also accumulated a 10-11 record over 33 games started. And in the strikeout department Pancho Torres led the team with 159.

The only free agent on Istanbul is 32 year old relief pitcher George House. Early reports are the front office will let him test free agency and see what he can get. It was reported he wanted a 2 year salary averaging $4.1M per season.

There could be a big shakeup in the front office for Istanbul. The only front office personnel with a contact after this season is the GM.

Down on the farm, the seasons didn't go that much better. The Dar es Salaam Devils finished the season 3rd in the Sub League. 18 games behind the Nairobi Drifters for the division lead and 7 games behind the Khartoum Racers for the wildcard.
