Pearls Uncover "Faberge Eggs"

Fabergé eggs have acquired a cult status in the art world and popular culture. Featured in exhibitions, films, TV series, documentaries, cartoons, publications, and the news, they continue to intrigue. They have become symbols of the splendor, power and wealth of the Romanov dynasty and the Russian Empire, priceless treasures to hunt and steal. Top baseball prospects can fit this analogy, with teams often mystically hyping their own prospects, declaring certain prospects "untouchable", and to the fan base the mystique and unknown quality of the next superstar can be a more intriguing discussion than the current roster. Here is a quick look at the Manama Pearls' cherished eggs

Fans got a glimpse of Susila Kartosuwiryo last year, but "Karto" this year was fully unleashed on UMEBA lineups. All the teenager has done is put up the following numbers:
14-1, Win total leads league
129.2 IP leads the league
151 K's leads the league
3.15 WAR

Fellow teenager Santiago Zuniga:
13-2 W-L
119.2 IP
128 K's, 2.78 FIP
4.09 WAR leads the league

Manuel Camacho, 20 years old:
The top 100 prospect is 6-2 over 15 starts. His numbers were much better before he did not make it out of the 3rd inning in 2 recent starts. Internally, the Pearls brass feel Camacho has just as much upside as Karto and Zuniga.

Not to be left out, another up and comer has impacted the Manama bullpen. In fact, after the Pearls got off to a bit of a rough start to the year, one of the things that helped turned things around was a reshaping and reordering of the bullpen. Enter 20 year old closer Edwin Harney. Harney was firmly inserted into the closer role and has produced:
42 K's in 37 IP
12 Saves, 1.43 ERA.

The reshuffling also consisted of moving Dean Rackham into the rotation, and out of nowhere Rackham has posted a 2.81 ERA over 85 IP. Roles were also shuffled as Francis Trujillo was struggling and moved into lower leverage spots. Stepping into that role has been displaced starter Thomas Rodriguez, who has done a great job of locking down the late inning high leverage spots over the past three weeks.

There are 59 known "Faberge Eggs" in existence, and lest anyone think the Pearls do not have any more in their possession, the names Edgar Sosa and Jose Velasquez may resonate in future years. Scouts project both to rival the current trio in the Manama rotation.
