Joshua Koka has taken the UMEBA by storm, becoming a household name and the bonafide leader of the 36-21 Manama Pearls. However, despite having an incredibly hot bat from the start of the season, leading the Pearls to a UMEBA-best record, and even overshadowing 2B Divino Pedrulho's record chase, Koka has never won a player of the month award... until May of 2043.
In the month of May, Koka slashed .430/.484/.754, tallying 10 doubles, 9 home runs, 30 RBI, and 12 walks. The 23-year old from Brisbane, when told of the May Player of the Month award, replied, "Listen, we're winning ballgames, and that's all that matters. But it is kinda cool to know that my hard work is paying off."
Koka, always a fan of giving the press a good laugh, also reminded everyone at the press conference about his best friend, Tofu McKinna, "Has Tofu won this award down [in AAA Khartoum]? If he hasn't, could you tell him for me. I'm sure he'd love to hear about it." Koka and Tofu have always had a great relationship throughout the Manama Pearls farm system, as reported by the Manama Tribune in June of 2042.
To reward Koka for his incredible month, Fleer has created a limited edition card for Koka, having his 2043 statline up through May of his sophomore year.
It is still early to start talking about this, but Koka does have a shot at the first UMEBA triple crown, as he leads the BURT in batting average (.394), sits in second in HR (21), and third in RBI (51).
