The Pearls of May:
- 1. SP Angel Guerrero - 4-0, 2.70 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, 33.1 IP.
- 2. 1B Sandro Trujillo - .321/.356/.532, 6 HR, 19 RBI, 3 doubles, 1 triple.
- 3. LF Juan Trevino - .364/.402/.468, 8 doubles, 8 strikeouts.
- The Pearls sit 7 games back of the Istanbul Bosphorus. According to GM Dillon Lowery, "7 games back in May and playing how we have? I'll take it."
- After going 1-5 at home in April, the Pearls took back home-field advantage by going 11-7 this month.
- The Pearls picked up two BBA veterans off of free agency, and both have made huge immediate impacts. SS Jesus Flores is hitting .268, flashing an elite glove, and swiping 4 bags already*. RP Gilberto Tovar is lights out in the pen, throwing 7.2 innings with a 1.17 ERA and 10 strikeouts.
- SP Feheen Silvester, who is having a great year, is rewarded with a 2-year extension worth a total of $2 million.
- The Mumbai Metro Stars picked up both ex-Pearls SS Harvey Specter and RP Juan Romo.
- Both young additions from April, SP Mauro Silva and C Broderick Manning have been sent down to AAA Khartoum.
- The Pearls still search for their fifth starter, this month seems to be in the hands of SP Ricardo Maldonado, who the Pearls picked up from free agency. His first start did not go very well, so we shall see just how long he lasts in Manama.
The Farm:
- CF Joshua Koka has less competition in front of him now that CF Juan Castillo has had a set-back. However, Koka's stats are still rather pedestrian in AA.
- LF Rafael McKinna's bat is coming alive--he is now slashing .310/.414/.380 in AA Bogota.
- 2B Wally Geoghegan is back, healthy, and working on getting back on track in A Manila.
