SP Aaron Bridges Johannesburg Gold
GBC ASAO Pitcher of the Month Award.

The Johannesburg Gold sit third in the GBC Power Rankings, whilst people may point at players like Jeff Bannon, César Torres, Simão Hayagawa and Callum Montgomerie however a reason they are doing so well at the moment is Aaron Bridges.

Some may say he rode his luck, he came up against teams that are struggling, teams like the Athens Fighting Centaurs, Moscow Thunder Bears, Cairo Pharaohs and the Buenos Aires Brisas. However he did take the scalps of the Sao Paulo Pilots and the Sydney Sharks multiple times (3).

He pitched against the Sydney Sharks on the 29th June, a game which the Gold lost 5-2. The next game he pitched in that Johannesburg lost was on the 1st September against the Sao Paulo Pilots a 10-5 defeat. In between those 2 games the Johannesburg Gold had a record of 10-0 in games that Bridges pitched in, Bridges himself had a record of 8-0.

He gained 5 wins in a row against the Cairo Pharaohs 4-1, Moscow Thunder Bears 10-2, Sydney Sharks 2-1, a shut out against the Cairo Pharaohs 5-0, he finished his streak against the Athens Fighting Centaurs which the Gold won 10-1.

Although the Gold won the next 5 games Bridges pitched in he came away with just 4 wins and 2 no decisions, the 2 no decisions were against Sao Paulo in a close 8-7 win for the Gold and a 8-5 win. His 4 wins came against the Cairo Pharaohs 11-6, Sydney Sharks 9-2 Buenos Aires Brisas 2-1 and his final win in the streak came against the Cairo Pharaohs 5-2.

With a 108 win season and a 20-13 record against the Tokyo Pearls, it makes the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers go into the play offs as heavy odds on favourites to progress to the championship series against the winners of the Johannesburg Gold and Sydney Sharks match up, whilst many may have Jerusalem as heavy favourites in there match up the Gold and Sharks is considered a closer match up.

If the Tokyo Pearls get any joy against the Hebrew Hammers they may have to search on how they beat them in the early months of the season, in the first 5 series between the two teams the Pearls best Jerusalem 8-8. It was a different story in the final 5 series as the Hebrew Hammers dominated the Pearls 12-5, beating them 20-13 over the season.

The Johannesburg Gold and Sydney Sharks series could be up in the air just edging the Sharks 18-15, Johannesburg will hope that play off series against the Sharks goes the way of the last 2 series which they swept 4-0 and Win the last series of the season 2 games to 1. What was more impressive was the sweep was on the road, if all goes to plan it looks like a Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers v Johannesburg Gold Championship Series, maybe Johannesburg goes all the way in its first play off appearance, only time will tell.

I literally have no idea how to win this playoff series. I just hope we can stretch it a little for some revenue.

Congrats to the Hammers.

Well we are up 3-0. No idea how. Hope the hammers come back a little so we can both get some more playoff cash.

If have put Jerusalem as big favourites but now Tokyo must be big favourites, just like real life you get big surprises. Cork were massive favourites in the All Ireland hurling final at the weekend but wasn't even close, Tipperary easily beat them.
