Re: UMEBA RPI
The Bucharest Impalers remain atop the UMEBA RPI and extend their slim lead over Beirut. Mumbai leads the UMEBA in home wins with 43 and Bucharest tops the list with 38 road wins.
At the bottom of the scrum sits Riyadh and Manama. While Manama had 36 home wins their 23 road wins trail all teams but Cairo and Riyadh.
Riyadh has just 22 home wins and 17 on the road to bring up the rear.

Re: UMEBA RPI
Nice to see Cairo not in the bottom two.
That said, could you please explain in English exactly what RPI is supposed to show?

Re: UMEBA RPI
RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is the same system used by the NCAA on basketball. It utilizes the formula of weighted winning % (25%), opponents winning % (50%) and opponents opponents winning % (25%).
Weighted winning percentage is determined by giving a weight to each teams home wins and road losses. They are weighted 0.6.The same is done with home losses and road wins which count as 1.4.
Opponents winning % is each opponent's regular won-lost percentage against other teams (excluding the wins or losses against the team in question), then average these percentages.
Opponents' Opponents' Winning %: The strength of each opponent's schedule is measured by computing the opponents winning percentage for each opponent, then averaging these percentages. This recognizes the fact that two opponents with equal won-lost records may have played far different schedules. (This one doesnt apply because of our schedule).
RPI is the sum of these numbers.
RPI will reflect the strength of a team. It separates the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

Re: UMEBA RPI
Thanks.
I tried to absorb and understand that. But I don't.
Not your fault; rather mine.
I'm very old school when it comes to stats.
But I do take some solace in the fact that Cairo has risen from the bottom in the most recent table.

Bucharest sits atop the rankings followed closely by Beirut. Cairo is third above Mumbai which looks strange until you see that Cairo's opponents have an adjusted win % of .523 to give them a boost in the rankings.
