UMEBA: Blowouts(FUBAR), Blowups, and walk offs Sim 17

Busy week this week as a minor field adjustment in Jerusalem proved costly for the Hebrew Hammers in the form of four blowouts in which one was actually a blow out as well.

July 22, 2043
Beirut 18 Cairo 5 BLOW OUT
The Cedars scored 10 runs in the first three innings before Cairo finally found the plate. They scored four more in the top of the fourth for a 14-3 lead. They took it easy in the fifth, the only inning in which they didn't score, but managed one single run in each of the final four innings. Wilton Rivera was 5-5 with two singles, two doubles, and a homer missing the cycle by a triple. Each of the seven players to record hits for Beirut had at least two as the Cedars finished with 19 hits, eight walks, and two batters hit by pitches.

July 23, 2043
Kuwait City 20 Jerusalem 3 BLOW OUT & BLOW UP
This game went off the rails quickly for the Hammers. It was actually a 1-0 Jerusalem lead heading into the top of the seventh at which point KC put up nine runs on seven hits to blow the game away. Just for fun KC scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth off of a couple of position players. How bad was it? 1B Trevor Auclair finished the game with an ERA of 135.00 and P Soper manage to add two full runs on to his ERA(3.19 to 5.21) in just 1.1 IP.

July 24, 2043
Istanbul 6 Mumbai 7 11 INN WALK OFF
Homers accounted for 11 of the 12 combined runs heading into the bottom of the 11th inning but it was small ball that finished the game for the Metro Stars. Three singles in the deciding frame, including the two out game winner by Chang, pushed Mumbai over the Impalers.

Kuwait City 21 Jerusalem 8 BLOW OUT
Four different players from the Alhafr posted at least four RBI in the second consecutive 20+ run game given up by Jerusalem pitching. Only one KC player failed to get a hit and he managed to coax four of the teams 12 bases on balls. For the second consecutive game position players Auclair pitched and pitched poorly.

July 26, 2043
Baghdad 20 Jerusalem 8 BLOW OUT
The wiped out Hammers bullpen again could not hold a lead as Jerusalem had a 6-0 lead after three innings before the Kings scored in five of the last six innings. Ron Mosley collected two homers and five RBI to lead Baghdad to the lopsided victory.

July 27, 2043
Beirut 6 Manama 7 WALK OFF
The Pearls loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied at six runs each. With the infield in Jeff Sherman managed to line a ball between the third baseman and the short stop to plate the winning run.

CSKA 7 Istanbul 8 WALK OFF
Trailing 7-1 heading to the bottom of the eighth inning the Impalers finally got it going enough to score seven runs over the final two innings to win the game. All eight Istanbul runs came from the five homers they hit in the game including including back to back shots for Reyes( PH, 2 run HR to tie the game) and Dornster(walk off homer) in the bottom of the ninth.

Baghdad 15 Jerusalem 5 BLOW OUT
This week couldn't end soon enough for the Hammers as they allowed their fourth blow out in a week of games. Seven Kings finished with multiple hits while five finished with multiple RBI. This is the eighth consecutive loss for the Hammers and rumors of tanking are starting to make their was around the league.
