UMEBA: Blowouts(FUBAR), Blowups, and walk offs Sim 6

Post by HerbD » Fri Jun 26, 2020 9:55 am

The first three days of the sim and the final day gave us nothing to talk about but the eighth, ninth, and tenth of May gave us five total games to add to our list including three blow outs. To this point in 2043 we have only managed one blow up for the season(a team scoring 10+ runs in an inning).

May 8, 2043
Bucharest 2 CSKA 3 WALK OFF
Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the ninth the expansion Army found a way to win or rather Bucharest found a way to lose. It started with a Rutton walk followed by a ground out by Best that moved Rutton to second. Hollinger doubled but Rutton misread the ball and was held up at third. Saucedo was issued an intentional walk to load the bases and set up the double play before Kennedy was issued an unintentional walk to tie the game. Ahroni slapped a game winning single past the drawn in infield to close it out.

Beirut 4 Athens 5 10 INN WALK OFF
With one out in the bottom of the tenth Honma reached first on a swinging bunt then stole second. He then came around to score the winning run when Saunders reached on an error by the shortstop.

May 9, 2043
Libyan 2 CSKA 12 BLOW OUT
This battle of expansion clubs was over early as the Army scored six runs in the second inning including a Torres grand slam. Hollinger and Ruttan each had three hits while four other players collected two hits.

Baghdad 14 Bucharest 3 BLOW OUT
The Kings led 7-0 after two innings and then added seven runs in the fifth only scoring in three innings for the game. Every regular had at least one hit while only five of the 19 hits were for extra bases. Cruz knocked in a game high five.

May 10, 2043
Manama 16 Athens 5 BLOW OUT
The Pearls took advantage of the worst team in the UMEBA at one time leading 16-1. Every regular had at least one hit with Dumont and Sheman leading the way with four each. Only five of the hits were for extra bases as the Pearls preferred to nickel and dime their way to the big lead. Athens attempted to keep this game out of our column by scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth but it was not enough to avoid the blowout.
Montreal Blazers(BBA) 2044~2047(353-295, .545 W%)
2045 Wildcard(lost in one round)
2046 Atlantic Champs(lost in one round)
