The Walkoff Watch Terminology

Balkoff - When a pitcher balks in the winning run.

Derpoff - When a pitcher walks in the winning run, hits a batter with the bases full, or the winning run scores due to a wild pitch or error.

200-proof walkoff - When the home team scores in the bottom of a previous inning to extend the game and then scores with a walkoff in a subsequent inning.

Buntoff When the team bunts in the walkoff run.

Pimpoff - When the home team scores a walkoff following the visiting team tying the game to cause extra innings (or more extra innings) or scoring what would have been the winning run if the home team hadn’t responded.

Bunt-Pimpoff A pimpoff, but when the batter successfully bunts home the walkoff run.

Player & Team Highlights Sim #13
June 23rd-June 29th

There was only 20 games on the slate this week due to the impending All Star break but two of them managed to get walkoffs successfully over the line including one of the most run filled ninth innings walkoffs this season..

Outcomes

On the first day of the sim, Mumbai at Bucharest sent the fans scuttling to the concession stands. The Metro Stars had taken the lead in the second innings and the Impalers had tied it in the fourth, that was all the action the 24,716 fans got in regulation time. The game went into extras and there was no change to the scoreline in the top of the 10th, in the bottom half Mumbai’s Leonardo Gomez came to the mound for his second innings of work. A single and double allowed by him gave the home side runners at third & second with only one out, the crowd really got into it when Gomez hit the next batter to load the bases. Next up to the plate was Jeffrey Cunningham who was 2 for 3 in the game. He was soon 3 for 4 on the game as he drilled the third pitch straight in between the third baseman and short, on into left field. The runner at third slowly trotted home and the game was in the books.

The next day Beirut were in Jerusalem, the home side got a run in the second and another in the third and the Cedars hadn’t been able to overcome that. Heading into the ninth it was 2-1 to the Hebrew Hammers, that all changed though when Dave Brunskill sent the ball 369 ft over the rightfield wall for a 3-run shot. Jose Carrillo was back on the mound after a 1-2-3 eighth innings, now with a 4-2 lead, but things didn’t go so well for him. A double & single got the lead runner home and cut the lead in half, another single & a walk loaded the bases leaving Beirut to make the bullpen call bringing Juan Lopez into a bases loaded jam. Jerusalem’s fourth hit of the innings tied the game for the Hebrew Hammers with the bases still loaded and only one out. Woo-jong Kang, already with a 200 proof walkoff to his name, stepped into the batter’s box and slipped the fifth pitch of the AB past second base to bring the runner at third home. A pimpoff to add to his collection!
