UMEBA announces additional minor league

Post by Fat Nige » Mon Dec 16, 2019 2:16 am

December 2041

The board of the Unified Middle East Baseball Association (UMEBA) have announced that in 2041 it’s teams will enter a new minor league affiliate team in a Double-A league. With their Triple-A league based in Africa and their A ball league based in Asia, it came as no surprise when UMEBA announced that it’s Double-A league would break new ground too.

The press statement revealed that the Board of UMEBA had reached agreement with the Confederation of South American Sports to base its new minor league teams in South America. There were to be eight affiliate teams based in eight different countries in one Division. They were to play a 141-game schedule in the inaugural year and in the post-season would compete for the South American Cup, but no details of the playoff format were released at this time. The league would run from April 4th to September 2nd in it's inaugural season with playoffs to follow and there would be an All-Star game on June 25th. The countries initially selected to host an affiliate were Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

The eight teams were announced as

These would be based in Uruguay and would be affiliated to the Cairo franchise.

The individual parent teams were expected to announce details of the uniforms, rosters and home fields later. The next day after the announcement newspapers across the South American continent were already full of stories linking various teams to the Drug Cartels and complaining that every game would be rigged between the Cartels and the Far Eastern betting syndicates that had so far been unable to get a foothold in the Far East Baseball League.
