The past four years the Cairo Pharaohs have finished 1st, won a combined 407 games, made the play offs 4 times won 3 Championships and the season they didn't win a Championship they lost to the eventual winners the Moscow Thunder Bears by 1 game. So it comes of a shock when they languish in 7th in the power rankings, 4th in there league and sitting 9 games behind the Johannesburg Gold, some would say a miss print and it should be Cairo sitting atop but there's no miss print Cairo are simply having a bad season.

A little over half of the season over and you know your having a good season when you've picked up 2 player of the week awards, 100 hits and 29 home runs but Simão Hayagawa is putting up the numbers that's helping the Johannesburg Gold in there quest for there first ever play off appearance.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks and Athens should have known that, specially on Saturday when they faced up against the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers and an old friend in Tokimasa Yano ex Athens Fighting Centaurs catcher who spent 9 years in Athens. One of the few who can boast championship rings in the BBA and GBC, he showed the Athens and Jerusalem ball clubs he still as it at the time old age of 37 when he went 5-5 with 1 2B, 1 RBI and 3 R in a 16-7 win for the Hebrew Hammers.

First and last had new caretakers as the Tokyo Pearls swapped places with the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers swapped 2nd with 1st, the Athens Fighting Centaurs swapped 10th with 9th and the Moscow Thunder Bears.

Howard Walsh had a couple of weeks to remember, first the Sharks leapfrogged the Johannesburg Gold and were nibbling on the heals of the London Monarchs and Sao Paulo Pilots, helped mostly by Howard Walsh. Walsh went 5-5 against the Buenos Aires Brisas with 2 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI and 3 R, got a player of the week award and then extended his hitting streak to 20.

Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers retook the number 1 spot in the power rankings but the big movers were the Sydney Sharks, the Sharks earlier in the season had been number 1 but over the weeks had slipped down the rankings. However they seem to have turned there season around and are now one of the hottest teams around, going 17-7 for the month and moving from 6th to 3rd Jerusalem and Tokyo had better beware.
