Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
If that's the case the draft & minors needs looking at sooner rather than later, with a watered down FA & Draft on the horizon UMEBA GMs are being asked to catch water in a sieve.

The FA that went from the BBA to the UMEBA this past season was as strong as ever.

Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
Not sure how youd work that out besides looking at every FA signed over the history of the UMEBA, youd know better than me on that point though. However the rule of thumb on a draft is you have 5 rounds for every level of minors or at least 4. The BBA gets 4 per level, the UMEBA gets less than 3, c'mon Joe put your ambassador hat on fight for a couple more rounds and college picks but at least couple more rounds and maybe a rookie level

All in good time....Recte knows what he’s doing.
The best way to screw up things (ie player development, finances, offense/pitching environments, etc.) is to go from 0 to 60 overnight. Growth and expansion (not just teams, but salaries, player pools, draft classes, minor league systems, feeder systems, etc.) need to come organically, not shoehorned in.

Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
I can not speak for the draft but I agree with Joe that it felt like the UMEBA was a lot more competitive with FA this year, and that should be the case going forward with the increased league prestige which if memory serves kicked in prior to 2042 FA period.

Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
Did you know the top 10 avg player ML avg age is taken up with UMEBA teams, the top 10 in pitchers ML avg age is taken up by UMEBA teams, the top 10 in hitters ML avg age is taken up by UMEBA teams. This means the UMEBA have an higher retirement % chance and a higher skill drop off % chance, yet not only could we lose our best player for peanuts, we get fewer draft picks % wise, we also get kids in nappies.
Now I dont want the BBA & UMEBA to be equal, I dont want $100m pay rolls and such, heck I dont even want 5 levels of minors and 32 teams but least throw us a bone now and again. I mean I'm not the only one who thinks we're treated like tramps in the UMEBA.
It's like when we're given the line "do good and you could be in the majors (BBA)" sorry but some of us already think we are in the majors, I know some BBA GMs look down their noses at the UMEBA but we do have some pride in the UMEBA we just want to feel like equals in the league. Me personally theres only 1 job I'd leave the UMEBA for, my next line was going to be "forgive me for fighting for the UMEBA" but I dont want forgiveness I'm proud to be a UMEBA GM and will fight to make it better.

Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
it sounds like you want a team that can compete with the best of the BBA and yet you want to pay half price for it cap wise, which is a bit difficult for me to understand. You have already been told by multiple GB members that the draft is something we are looking at, so I am not sure why you keep griping about that. Is the UMEBA perfect, of course not. I will give you a hint though, the BBA is far from perfect too and there are always tweaks being made to (hopefully) make it better. Sometimes they work and sometimes they dont but to basically be accused of not caring about a significant portion of our league is a bit insulting.Clayman wrote: ↑Mon May 18, 2020 5:59 amDid you know the top 10 avg player ML avg age is taken up with UMEBA teams, the top 10 in pitchers ML avg age is taken up by UMEBA teams, the top 10 in hitters ML avg age is taken up by UMEBA teams. when you continuously bring up the same point after having been told that it is being taken for action, yes it is griping.

Re: Possible 2042 Expansion thread ?
I'm sure any expansion will come with environmental support. V21 did a big sweep of feeder leagues and draft class progression, so I'd expect any expansion would be accompanied by changes here.
Neil is both right and wrong on the "major league/minor league" thing. The old EBA was kind of a minor league to the BBA from a GM's standpoint--at least it was when I got here and took over the Madrid club for a bit. The UMEBA had that feel and will continue to be used in that fashion, but was built with different end in mind. I've had several chats with UMEBA and BBA GMs, and fully expect a UMEBA GM will sometime turn down a BBA job opportunity to stay with their UMEBA club. This is exactly what we want to happen. I don't know of any BBA GM who looks down their noses at the UMEBA, though. I think, instead, that most of us look at the UMEBA with a sense of pride that an online league can, in a few short seasons, spin up a league and attract a collection of ten great GMs.
Bottom line, though, and speaking for myself, I think it's been clear since the early days that if UMEBA was going to thrive as a stand alone league (and have a robust trade environment), that 12 teams is likely the right number. The earlier we can get there without breaking the quality of competition is probably best. So, to me, that's the equation. Speed vs. Competitive environment.
Since it's inception, Matt has been listening to UMEBA GMs and making a steady stream of changes. I don't see an end to that any time soon.

All I know about Bulgaria is: A: Lots of Gypsies (Gypsys?) in BulgariaFat Nige wrote: ↑Sat Feb 01, 2020 8:42 pmSofia, Bulgaria
Bulgaria is just north of Turkey and just below Romania on the banks of the Black Sea and is home to around seven million people of which some 1.5 million live in the capital city of Sofia. The driving force behind the Bulgarian bid for the UMEBA expansion franchise is C.S.K.A., this is an abbreviation of The Central Sporting Club of the Army, a common organisation found in Eastern Europe with it’s roots found in the Officers Clubs in the early 1900’s. CSKA Sofia already run many sporting clubs in over 15 different sports such as football, athletics, water polo, ice hockey, boxing and much more. Situated in close proximity to other UMEBA franchises (Bucharest is around 400 km away and Istanbul is around 550 km) the organisation felt that it could add baseball to it’s varied portfolio whilst creating major sporting rivalries with neighbouring countries.

B: They eat Goat, I know because I knew a family that adopted a Bulgarian Girl, and her favorite meal was Goat, kinda hard to find here, haha.
In all serious looks like this will be the team I'm taking over, can't wait to get started. Just a quick question, do I fill with an expansion draft, or is it all FA bids? Thanks for the help. See ya out there!
....In short, we ain't nuthin' but a band of Gypsies....

Don't forget YouTube, there will be countless videos of Sofia places to visit and videos on food. I got bored putting links to the league pages so now I put player links in but team links are either places to visit or food related videos, it's different plus you get to learn about the place your teams based in. We went to Greece years back but because of the UMEBA once lockdown is 100% done and the world is back to normal were going to hire a villa in Greece and go as a family.
