With the HoF Voting officially open, I thought I'd try to release a few "Candidate Threads." There are so many interesting guys on the list, though, that it's hard to get into details on them all, so I thought I'd try a different take and trace their paths through the voting maze. What follows are players, and what percentage of the vote they have gotten each year of eligibility

Here are players who all are on their 1st of seven seasons of eligibility:

BBA HOF VotingYr 1Yr 2Yr 3Yr 4Yr 5Yr 6Yr 7
Carlos Flores
Wilson Alomar
Mal Fountain
Tony Frost
Pedro Guzman
Aaron Haney
Roberto Rivera
Tom Rudge
Ron Shiplack
Jeffrey Smith
Larry Stinson
Reggie Vargas
Felipe Vega
Exciting time for these guys, right? And man, oh, man, look at those names.

Predictions:

Who is to say? I know we have small Hall guys rampant in the population, so anything is possible, but just scanning my eyes down the list says Flores, Haney, Smith, Stinson, and Vega are almost sure locks. Fountain and Frost seem to be there to me, too, but there really are only so many ballots.

Pick your own favorites, too. I won’t argue with you too hard.

With this class, though, you can see why I think so many guy upstream are going to fall off. The decision of who to put on and who to leave off is really, really tough with this class.

Flores, Haney, Smith, Stinson, Frost, and Vega got my vote. I expect Frost won’t make it this year, but certainly worthy.

Sucks the two most impactful Bears we’ll see on this list for a while won’t get even a tiny fraction of the oxygen in the room.

This class is definitely stretching my voting muscles. Do I leave anyone off who seems like a no-brainer simply to try to save a guy I worry might fall off?

That is what I ended up doing but I did vote for the no brainer ones because I don't want to be the guy who left Stinson off for example.

Voted for Haney, Stinson, Frost, and Rudge. Might consider others in future years, but these were the ones definitely worthy for me.

2062 RESULTS:
Who is to say? I know we have small Hall guys rampant in the population, so anything is possible, but just scanning my eyes down the list says Flores, Haney, Smith, Stinson, and Vega are almost sure locks. Fountain and Frost seem to be there to me, too, but there really are only so many ballots.
Well...so much for locks.

Haney and Stinson are in. Long live the Kings.

Like Matt, I'm quite shocked that Flores--a four-time Nebraska winner--was left waiting for the call another season. But it is what it is, I suppose. He missed by one vote (for or against). Smith and Vega did not achieve 60%. We'll see what the future looks like for them. Frost hit only 45%. And Fountain at 5.4% nearly joined Wilson Alomar as the only guys to fall off the ballot completely.

It will be interesting to see what story that next year's voting tells about these guys.
