HoF Voting - Eligibility Ends 2066

Post by RonCo » Thu Apr 24, 2025 2:40 pm

With the HoF Voting officially open, I thought I'd try to release a few "Candidate Threads." There are so many interesting guys on the list, though, that it's hard to get into details on them all, so I thought I'd try a different take and trace their paths through the voting maze. What follows are players, and what percentage of the vote they have gotten each year of eligibility

Here are players who all are on their 3rd of seven seasons of eligibility:

BBA HOF VotingYr 1Yr 2Yr 3Yr 4Yr 5Yr 6Yr 7
Wilson Andrade35.0%18.4%
Pedro Bustamante12.5%5.3%
Donald Miller7.5%5.3%
Weaver Ripley5.0%5.3%

To be fair, I’m not sure any of these guys are going to be here come next season. Andrade was resplendent at his peak—though he fell off rapidly and the voters seem to reflect that. The others have just hung on by their fingernails.

Remember, it’s still an honor just to get here, right?

Predictions:

- Andrade manages to find 5%, and lives to fight another day.
- Bustamante, Miller, and Ripley fall off the ballot.

Andrade the closest one here, but not enough for a vote this year.

None of these are people I think will go in. But they made it past 1 vote so good for them.

As a "Championship Guy" when it comes to Hall of Fame voting, and a big UMEBA in the Hall advocate, Ripley will always be the first name on my ballot. Four rings should be considered a free pass, the same way 500 home runs or 3000 hits traditionally are.

You may have to do a write in after this year. ;)

Ripley got a look from me because I signed him when I was in Kuwait, but no way he got a vote in this class. And if I did vote for him it would be a sympathy vote, knowing he wouldn't get elected.

2062 RESULTS:
- Andrade manages to find 5%, and lives to fight another day.
- Bustamante, Miller, and Ripley fall off the ballot.
Talk about a total whiff. Four strikes and you're out.

Andrade fell off the ballot, and despite the big names on the ballot, the other three all registered their 5-8% loyalty levels. So much for that.
