HOF Talk: Blaine Tyler

Tyler’s case is an interesting one. I don’t think it’s going to win the day, but the fact is that Tyler was a winner. His teams played in a lot of postseason games, and he took home series MVPs twice, so he rose to moments. Tyler wears three rings, all won while in Vegas. He could really play. Won a Zimmer and a Puckett. Made an All-Star team.
In the end, though, while he was a major cog in that Hustler machine, he was never really The Guy. His 41 WAR spread nicely over a fifteen season span says that clearly. Tyler was Mr. Dependable. He was a good player, and a guy you wanted on your team. A winner.
The question, of course, is whether that’s enough for the Hall of Fame.
I think not. But I could see it happening in the real world…whatever that is.
